New America is seeking an assistant editor to work at the intersection of policy and journalism by helping translate nuanced ideas into accessible (but still smart) articles, essays, and op-eds. This is an ideal experience for an intellectually curious person who is interested in writing; editing; traditional, new, and social media; and who is able to work both autonomously and with a driven and dynamic team at a forward-thinking institution full of individuals as compassionate and kind as they are frighteningly competent. Previous occupants of this position have been published in The Atlantic, Slate, Pacific Standard, and others, and they have gone on to jobs at CNN, the Washington Post, Foreign Policy, and Ideas42. This position is mainly editing and placing great writing.
